44th Annual Easter Art Exhibition 2019
Entries are now open for our 44th Easter Art Exhibition to be held at the air conditioned Port Macquarie Art Society Heritage Gallery on Hamilton Green, Hastings River Drive. Please see the Events page for details.
This year's Special Guest Judge is Simon Mark.
Simon received an Under-Grad and Post-Grad from the College of Fine Arts, Uni of NSW.
One of his favourite forms of art expression is painting and drawing plein-air landscapes so when he moved from Sydney to the Macleay Valley twenty years ago he was immediately enamoured by the variety and beauty of the topography.
Simon has many years experience teaching, to all levels, art subjects such as Drawing the Figure, Painting in Oils, Watercolour and Gouache, Landscape and Still-Life, History of Art, Photography, History of Photography and The Psychology of Art.
Simon has exhibited his work in major city and regional areas in Australia, Ireland and New Zealand and his work is in collections in the USA, Europe and Australia. He has been chosen as a finalist in notable competitions around Australia such as The Sulman, The Blake, The Duke and The Kilgour. Simon’s recent oil paintings involve Japanese Urban Landscapes from drawings and watercolours in situ which reflect a sense of separation from the past as we constantly break into the future.
Simon believes that local competitions are as important as major ones.
